A sensational hat-trick by Richard Cardoso guided Calangute Association to a commanding 3–1 victory over Curtorim Gymkhana, securing their place in the quarterfinals of the 52nd Custodio Memorial Football Tournament at the Raia Panchayat Ground on Monday.
Despite wet and rainy conditions, enthusiastic fans packed the stands, creating a lively atmosphere for a match that lived up to its expectation
Cardoso opened the scoring in the 10th minute, tapping in from close range to give Calangute the early advantage. However, Curtorim Gymkhana quickly responded, with Anselm Fernandes levelling the scores in the 19th minute with a precise finish.
