Saraswat Sports Sangh felicitated 25 Saraswat sportspersons for their achievements in various sports disciplines and allied activities related to Sports during the jersey launch ceremony of the Estilo Moderno Realty Sarsangan Super Series at Caculo Mall recently.
The felicitations were in 3 categories: retired sportspersons, current sportspersons and allied activities related to sports, part of which were held after the Sarsangan Cricket Finals at Arlem ground.
The 12 Retired Sportspersons who were felicitated include Arjuna awardee and Padmashree Brahmanand Shankhwalkar for football, Late Adv. Guruprasad Kirtani (posthumously) for table tennis, Anil Angle, Nitin Parrikar and Aditya Kamat Tarcar for cricket, Shraddha Prabhudesai nee Ramaa Prabhu for kabaddi, Dr. Sanjivi Talak for taekwondo, Tanisi Kirtani for table tennis, Balwant Shirwaikar for football – referee, Navin Acharya for Yoga, Milind Bodke for volleyball and Santosh Kenkre for basketball. The 9 current sportspersons who were felicitated include 78 year young and energetic Dr. Satish Kudchadkar for badminton, Ajit Ghantker for table tennis, Abhay Karande for carrom, Shamik Kamat, Vidhi Bhandare and Savnee Mahambrey for cricket, Nehern Acharya for yoga, Shubh Karmali for cycling and Kamakshi Dharwadkar for gymnastics.
The 4 persons felicitated for allied activities related to sports include V M Prabhudesai for Sports Administration, Sailee Kamat Bambolkar for Sports Physiotherapy, Amogh Namshiker for Chess coaching and Dr. Satyesh Kamat for developing Infrastructure – SK Cricket ground at Malkarne, Sanguem.
The jersey launch of the 8 teams – Estilo Legends, Salcete Stallions, Delite Titans, Priority Titans, Mapusa Dream Crushers, Panjim Powerplay, MLT PDK Kings and Madgaon Royals participating in the Sarsangan Super Series, which starts on January 14 was held in the presence of Padmashree Brahmanand Shankhwalkar, Ex- Executive Director of Sports, V. M. Prabhudesai, Managing Director of Goa Handicrafts, Textiles & Coir Board Sandhya Kamat, CEO of Geno Pharmaceuticals Dr. Sagar Salgaocar and CEO of Commonwealth Developers Pvt Ltd Chirag Datta Naik.
The Estilo Moderno Realty Sarsangan Super Series Cricket Tournament will be played on Sundays on league cum knockout basis amongst the 8 teams picked by auctions, with the top 4 teams making it to the knockouts, the finals of which will be on April 28 at Arlem Cricket ground.
