United Club of Benaulim made short work of St Anthony's Sports Club, Colva 3-0 in the Salcete Zone GF Third Division League at St John the Baptist Dando Ground, Benaulim on Thursday.
The highlight of the match was a brilliant brace by Senatro Fernandes. United Club of Benaulim held the upper hand in the first session and made a couple of forays into the rival territory but their forwards misfired from close range.
Crossing over, United Club of Benaulim got their nose in front in the 50th minute when Senatro found the net. Spurred by the success, United Club of Benaulim upped the ante and two minutes later, Nayab Khan punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Senatro's snap shot found the roof of the net to make it 3-0.
Chandor Club blank Macasana Welfare Club 3-0
Chandor Club humbled Macasana Welfare Club 3-0 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Chandor Church Ground, on Thursday.
Chandor Club dominated the game and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Persistent forays paid off in the 25th minute as Layman Gaunkar beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. The goal boosted Chandor Club as they intensified their attacks and Kenzgn D'Costa found the net to make it 2-0. In the 41st minute, Afiled Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt.
After resumption, Chandor Club continued their dominance and made some sorties in the opposition box but they failed to increase their tally. At the other end, Macasana Welfare Club were subdued and disjointed with their attacks wayward.
Sirvodem SC edge past Dicarpale SC 2-1
Sirvodem Sports Club defeated Dicarpale Sports Club 2-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Dramapur Ground, on Thursday.
Sirvodem Sports Club held an edge over their opponents but it was Dicarpale who rocked the rival citadel through Felroy Niasso in the 22nd minute. However, their joy was short-lived as in the 28th minute, Hritesh Velip cancelled the lead. The second session turned livelier as both the teams went into attacking mode and in the 50th minute, Tyson Miranda flicked the ball into the net.
Archery selection trials for mini nationals
PANAJI: Amateur Archery Association Goa in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa will be conducting selections trials in archery for under-9 and under-14 categories for boys and girls on December 18 from 9 am at SAG ground, Campal, Panaji. Those born on or after January 1, 2009 (under-14) and those born on or after January 1, 2014 (under-9) are eligible to attend the trials. The archers should report to Laxmi Sharma or Rohan Nanodkar (archery coaches) at the venue.
