Wilson Cruz, a prominent chess trainer from Ponda Taluka and a software engineer by profession, has made history by becoming the first person from Ponda Taluka to achieve the prestigious Senior National Arbiter title and receive the FIDE National Arbiter License in chess.
Cruz, who has long been a dedicated figure in the chess community, previously earned the FIDE Instructor title, certifying him as a world-class chess trainer. He also holds the Arena International Master (AIM) title and the AICF Chess in Schools Trainer certification.
In addition to his individual achievements, Wilson Cruz is the founder of Champion's Chess Academy and serves as the Vice President of the Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA). His contributions to Goa's chess scene also include a tenure as the former Joint Treasurer of the Goa Chess Association (GCA).
Cruz has also worked as a professor at a college, further showcasing his dedication to education and the development of young minds both in chess and beyond.
