MARGAO: Canacona Sports & Cultural Club defeated hosts Cuncolim Union 5–4 via a tie-breaker to advance to the final of the 2nd Vaidya Family Cup, organised by Cuncolim Union at the Government School Playground, Cuncolim, on Saturday.
The match ended in a goalless draw at full time, with both teams failing to break the deadlock during regulation play.
In the tie-breaker, Canacona Sports & Cultural Club converted their kicks through Yammursab Pinjar, Racher D’Souza, Valvino Fernandes, Chaitan Komarpant and Pralhad Velip. For Cuncolim Union, Frazier Fernandes, Viraj Velip, Shankar Goundar and Ansh Patel found the net.
Brijesh Shelke of Cuncolim Union was adjudged Man of the Match, and the award was presented by David Pereira.
