St Anne's Institute, Agonda got the better of St Anthony HS, Galgibhag 4-1 to win the maiden U-14 girls football championship organised by DSYA, at Devabhaga ground, on Wednesday
The Agonda side scored the first goal through Gunaid Fernandes from a beautiful corner-kick. Aanya Fernandes scored the second goal.
In the second half, St Anthony, Galgibaga combined well and reduced the margin by 2-1. However, St. Anne’s tally was yet again increased with another goal from Aanya Fernandes while Cheryll Fernandes added to the scoresheet in the dying minutes of the match.
In the U-17 (Girls) Canacona taluka football championship, St Anne’s Institute, Agonda pipped Government High school, Gowal-Khola 1-0. In an almost a derby match, Sayli Pagi scored the lone goal to help them clinch the Championship match.
