Panjim Footballers put on a dominant display to thrash Guardian Angel SC 4-2 in the Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy qualifiers on Saturday. A clinical hat-trick from Crespo D'souza and an early strike by Ajay Raj sealed the win for Panjim.
Raj opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute, before turning provider two minutes later to set up Dsouza's first. Dsouza wasn't done there, adding another goal from distance in the 17th minute and completing his hat-trick on the stroke of halftime.
Guardian Angel showed fight in the second half, pulling one back through Antush Moniz in the 67th minute. However, their comeback hopes were dashed when goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues was sent off for a second yellow card. Godwin Fernandes netted a consolation goal in the dying minutes, but Panjim held on comfortably to secure their place in the group stage.
