Salgaocar CC, MCC dominate; Geno SC in sight of victory

Salgaocar Cricket Club, Margao Cricket Club, and Geno Sports Club took first-innings leads against Chowgule Sports Club, Dempo Cricket Club, and Panjim Gymkhana, respectively in the Goa Cricket Association–organized Goa Premier Division League (three-day matches), on Friday.

Salgaocar maintain dominance

Replying to Salgaocar's first-innings total of 285 all out at Bandodkar Ground of Panjim Gymkhana, Chowgule Sports Club were bowled out for 248. Salgaocar thus secured a first-innings lead of 37 runs.

Pradnesh Gaonkar top-scored for Chowgule with 61 runs off 84 balls, including 9 fours and 1 six. Madhur Yadav narrowly missed his third consecutive half-century by four runs. Salgaocar captain Yash Kasvankar picked up three wickets for 68 runs.

In their second innings, Salgaocar reached 121 for 4. Opener Azaan Thota played an aggressive knock of 64 runs off 59 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes. By the end of Day Two, Salgaocar's overall lead stood at 162 runs.

Deepraj's century gives MCC lead

At the NAPEX ground, Margao Cricket Club secured a valuable first-innings lead of 42 runs over Dempo Cricket Club. Despite wickets falling at the other end, captain Deepraj Gaonkar scored an unbeaten 139 off 168 balls with 16 fours and a six.

MCC were once struggling at 252 for 8, giving Dempo a chance to gain the lead, but Deepraj's batting pushed MCC ahead. Abhinav Tejrana was the pick of the Dempo bowlers with three wickets for 25 runs.

At the end of Day Two, Dempo were 61 for 1 in their second innings and currently lead by 19 runs.

Geno Sports Club is in a position to win

At the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim, Geno Sports Club needs to take all ten wickets of Panjim Gymkhana on Saturday to seal victory. After scoring 309 in the first innings, Geno bowled out Panjim Gymkhana for 144 to gain a big lead of 165 runs.

Manish Kakode took four wickets for 28 runs. Geno then declared their second innings at 214 for 9, with Vikas Singh contributing a useful 81 off 113 balls. Off-spinner Mohit Redkar took five wickets for 83 runs for Panjim Gymkhana.

Chasing 380 for victory, Panjim Gymkhana were 6 without loss at the end of Day Two.
