MARGAO: Ugem Rising Club edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 6-5 via the tiebreaker to storm into the quarterfinals of the United Club Trophy, organised by United Club of Telaulim at the Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Monday.
Don Bosco Oratory drew first blood in the 7th minute through Hanshlum Furtado. Ugem Rising Club restored parity in the 36th minute when Ashwan Menezes found the net, and the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
With no further goals in normal play, the match was decided by a penalty shootout, where Ugem Rising Club held their nerve to prevail 6-5 and seal their place in the last eight.
Clinton Niasso, footballer from Navelim, presented the Man of the Match award to Israel Gomes of Ugem Rising Club.
