United Club Seraulim sealed their place in the finals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup with a thrilling 6-5 victory via tiebreaker over Guardian Angel SC in the second semifinal held at Moll Ground, Assolda, on Saturday.
The match began cautiously due to heavy rain, which affected the tempo early on. Seraulim broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a well-taken goal by Klusner Pereira. Guardian Angel SC responded just six minutes later through Jaison Dias, making it 1-1. Despite efforts from both sides, the score remained level at full-time.
In the decisive penalty shootout, Guardian Angel SC converted through Fedrich Fernandes, Godwin D’Costa, Ivo Costa, and Cyril Dias. Meanwhile, Seraulim held their nerve, scoring via Ashley Fernandes, Klusner Pereira, Flocio Fernandes, Oliver D’Souza, and Selney Fernandes to clinch the win.
Klusner Pereira of Seraulim was named Man of the Match for his standout performance and was presented with the award by Custodio Fernandes, President of Assolda Club.
The final showdown between USC Seraulim and Margao Sports Club is set for August 10.
