State-of-the-art sports complex inaugurated at Advalpal

Under the leadership of Pramod Sawant and with the support of Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, a sports ground worth ₹10 crore will be developed at Latambarase in the Bicholim constituency under the “Khelo India” initiative, announced MLA Chandrakant Shetye.
The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of a modern sports complex constructed by the Goa Sports Department at Advalpal at a cost of nearly ₹4 crore. The newly developed sports facility was inaugurated by MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye in the presence of several dignitaries and local residents.
Prior to the inauguration ceremony, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar visited the ground in the morning and inspected the completed works. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the quality of the construction and stated that the government remains committed to providing modern sports infrastructure to athletes from rural areas. He emphasized that such facilities would help rural sportspersons compete at the state, national, and international levels.
The official inauguration ceremony was held in the evening, where MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye formally inaugurated the sports ground by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque. Present on the occasion were Sports Department Director Ajay Gaude, Zilla Panchayat Member Padmakar Malik, Atmaram Gaude, Sarpanch Vinashree Gaonkar, Pradeep Revadkar, Subatta Samant, Shekhar Parwar, Gajanan Palkar, along with villagers and several other dignitaries.
Dr. Shetye informed that nearly ₹2 crore has already been spent on the Advalpal sports ground, where facilities such as changing rooms, water supply, protective compound walls, and other basic amenities have been developed. He further stated that an additional ₹2 crore would be spent to provide electrical infrastructure and related facilities at the venue.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Shetye said that over the last four and a half years, sincere efforts have been made to improve sports, education, infrastructure, basic amenities, and employment opportunities across the constituency. He assured that many more developmental projects would be implemented in the coming years.
He also mentioned that special coaching classes for Staff Selection examinations have been started to help local youth prepare for competitive exams. According to him, many students from the constituency have benefited from these coaching initiatives, and several candidates have already achieved success in examinations.
During the event, sports equipment were distributed to various sports clubs.
