Honest Tiatr Review

Concept

After marriage the bride becomes the daughter of the house she marries into. But what happens when she decides to pamper her own brother and father and disrespect her father in law and brother in law? Ganvchi Zatra Bhangoddeo Sotra is just about this outdated point.

Script

The tiatr script is simple and proceeds without any logic. The sequences of the plot unfold with expected turn of events. The graph of the characters are superficial and illogical. A strict Police Inspector not having even a little respect is unfathomable. There is a good dose of comedy, dirty and indecent though, that is partly interwoven with the plot. Comedian Agostinho a name of authority in the field of scriptwriting, whose last tiatr ‘Past is Past’ was a spectacular script, totally lets the aspirations of his audience down writing a potpourri of melodrama that is just irrelevant to the realistic society.

Acting

The tiatr has all comedians in the cast. Comedian Janet excels in the lead role of the daughter in law. Roque Santana (look alike of Comedian Domnic) excels as the father. The team combines with comfort in enacting their roles, but then with a script that is mediocre, one cannot expect miracles from the star cast.

Music

The tiatr band music is impressive, pleasing and soothing to the ears. The opening chorus quartet by Netto, Joel, Brian and Riston is very pleasing to the ears. A good duo on parents by Brian and Riston deserves an encore. The quartet by Ambe, Brian, Riston and Joel is degrading and indecent to the core. There are good solos by Ben Evangelisto and Netto. But the pick of the day is a comedy duo ‘Aikat Khobor fuddli’ sung by Sally and Agostinho in style even though Agostinho misses the rhythm for every line.

Comedy

The comedy of the tiatr is by and large filthy, however the audience enjoy it with great laughter. Besides Comedian Sally, Comedian Humberto and Comedian Brian none rise above the average. Master Character Ben Evangelisto and Comedian Ambe are natural in their delivery but the two have few punch lines under their belt to shine. The body shaming jokes aimed at a healthy artiste, are pathetic and in bad taste.

Backstage

The Writer’s vision was brought up on stage with great technical background. The light effects were impressive. The background musical score was decent and satiating. The stage sets were impressive.

Direction

All artistes did a good natural job and the Director needs to be commended for this. There was good coordination of the backstage team with the artistes.

Reviewers take

Tiatr is no doubt in the evolving state and new concepts are seen on stage. How long will the tiatrist continue with their traditional ‘saas bahu’ story scripts that are found in the ‘zomnivele khell’? Variety songs was a hallmark of the tiatrs staged in yesteryears. Variety songs like interactive duets trios quartets and quintets are the need of the format to make tiatr a vibrant form of the glorious past. The presentation of Ganvchi zatra bhan’goddi sotra has nothing tiatrical in it. Will the dormant Tiatr Academy do something in this regard and address the decaying format of tiatr? Will the Tiatr Academy step in to wipe out the vulgarity prevailing on stage?
