Concluding Diwali with a grand tour

Goa Tourism Development Corporation is organizing a special tour to Vithalapur, Sanquelim on the occasion of Tripurari Poornima to enable tourists to witness the celebrations and traditions of this event  on November 12.

This festival has an interesting story behind it and is celebrated in a very unique way to mark the end of the Diwali season. The tradition takes the form of a very unusual competition - that of making miniature models boats and ships with a  spectacular boat show  that attracts  both locals and tourists. Besides the main boat competition, there are a host of cultural programmes including songs by well known artistes, performances of various Goan traditional folk dances along with a display of fireworks.

Tickets are priced at Rs.100/- per person. Children above six years and below 12 years will be charged only Rs. 50 /- to promote Tripurari Poornima, 10% special discount on rooms to the guests will be offered at Panaji/ Mapusa/Miramar/Calangute  Annexe/Calangute Residencies who book the tour for Tripurari Poornima on November 12.

The special tour on the eve of Tripurari Poornima is open to all locals and tourists. The guests will be picked up by the GTDC coach from Panaji Residency at 8 pm and Mapusa Residency at 8:30 pm and will proceed to Vithalapur Sankhali.

6:30 pm: Procession of Lord Shrikrishna

7:30 pm: ‘Bhav Bhakti Natya Dhara’ Musical Show of Bhavgeet, Bhaktigeet and Natyageet by Maanik Entertainment Mumbai

10:30 pm: Palkhi Procession of Shree Vithal Rakhumai

10:45 pm: Tripurasur-Vadh

11:00 pm: Release of ‘Sarange’  in the sky

11:00 pm onwards:Traditional boat show
