Minister Vijai Sardesai visits Directorate of Archives, mulls new buildings
Minister Vijai Sardesai on Monday visited the Directorate of Archives and Archeology, and stated that the government is taking up digitisation of old documents on priority bases. He further said that efforts will be made to shift the Directorate to a new and more secure building. The minister was accompanied by the officials of Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services. During the visit, Sardesai expressed the need to urgently digitise all documents related to Goa and Goans. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has already assured that new buildings will be built at Patto for various government departments, however it is estimated that the process will take two years. In the meantime, he will discuss with the Chief Minister measures for moving old documents at a safe and secure place, Sardesai said.
