Don’t be coy

It’s over a year since Luizinho Faleiro took over the reins of the Congress in the State and questions over his interest in Navelim continue to follow him. The GPCC President dodged and weaved in the past but the questions never stopped. A recent incident where he and Churchill Alemao jointly raised the toast has added an element of expectancy to the issue. And when his trusted lieutenant, Motilal Desai broke his silence, Faleiro’s plans were bared. Faleiro, like the loyal soldier that he is, tried to down play the revelation, but then no one believes that Desai would have spoken to the media without the concurrence of his boss. After he was defeated by Churchill Alemao in 2007, Faleiro had adopted a hands-off approach to Navelim, but his return has changed political equations in the constituency and boosted the chances of Alemao returning to the Congress. With the elections little over a year away, Faleiro must stop being coy and tell, at least the people of Navelim, where his interests lie. Sitting on the fence neither helps his interests nor that of the Congress which is in desperate need of a short of steroids.
