They say the call of nature is irresistible. From the many‘not-so-explored’ options in Goa which act against the image of Goa as a landof beaches and parties, the Tropical Spice Plantation in Ponda strives to actotherwise. Located in Keri, a village far away from the pollution and noise,the Tropical Spice Plantation has been giving the tourist and the localvisitors a completely different and a greener experience of Goa.

The Tropical Spice Plantation is spread over a large area offertile land, which offers the perfect setting to feel one with the nature. Allthe elements of a refreshing ambience like the cover of greens, the vegetation,the chirping of birds and the serene stream make it a perfect getawayespecially from the busy and noisy Northern part of the state. The venue has alot to offer and is much more than just a spice farm. One can enjoy an elephantride and a bath, riding on these friendly giant creatures. An experience thatcannot be forgotten.

Upon reaching the venue, a long makeshift wooden bridgehelps you cross what looks like a scenic lake to reach the main portion of thearea. A warm welcome with a flower garland – in true traditional Goan style -makes you feel at home. For guided tours of the spice farm, an informativeleaflet is provided make the tour understand better. The walk around theplantation, with information on various spices and there medicinal valuesserves as a refreshing change and an out of the world experience. Apart frombeing introduced to rare spices, one can also see all these spices and tropicalfruits grow.

What can be termed as one of the highlights of the tour isthe traditional Goan lunch an open air space where food is served on a Bananaleaf. The visitors can help themselves to generous servings of vegetarian andnon-vegetarian delicacies which are kept in earthen and wooden containers tokeep it as natural as possible. To make sure the foreign tourists aren’tinconvenienced, the food is kept moderately spicy. What is commendable is thatthe management makes a separate preparation of the same dishes – a tad morespicy - for the local or Indian visitors to ensure that every person is notdeprived of a pleasant experience. The fenny served in coconut shells, takesyour spirits to an all new high and is an experience not to be missed. All inall, the luxury of nature makes for an enchanting and soothing experience whichis nothing but timeless!
