St Andre MLA, Vishnu Surya Wagh is a multifacetedpersonality. He is a prolific speaker and a versatile actor. His oratoricalskills are par excellence.

But his talent may just not be enough to win over the trustof his constituents.

More than development the people of St Andre demand for theMLA’s time.

The main grouse of the constituents is the non-availabilityof their MLA. His failure to give time and an ear to their problems has earnedhim people’s ire.

“There are people in St Andre who have not seen the MLA foralmost a year after his election,” said F. Tony, a local.

The constituency office which was promised during theelection campaign was not even opened in Agassaim.

After his election, sources in the BJP have admitted thatVishnu’s appearance in the constituency is far less. This may cost the BJP inthe long run in the Catholic dominated area, sources said.

Vishnu Wagh bagged to differ with his constituents.

“Actually it’s the other way round. I am the one who givesmore time in the constituency to my voters than any other MLA in the State,”Wagh said.

He said that his priority is for overall development of theconstituency.

“All the developmental works promised by me is in progress. It takes some time to complete the works,” the MLA said.

There are several issues in St Andre and in Agassaim inparticular, which includes setting up of a market complex and a footballground.

Except for beautification work carried out at the StLawrence church and the stage in front of the market, the MLA has failed todeliver any of the promises made in the election manifesto.

Irregular water supply and a market complex are two mainissues that is the need of the hour in Agassaim.

Restoration of the first ever capital of Kadamba dynasty inGoa and saving it from the land sharks was one of the points on the electionmanifesto of Wagh.

He had promised that if the party was voted to power theKadamba Rajmarg, which is in shambles, will be restored to its past glory.

Sadly, no action has been taken yet, to save these areasfrom the builders lobby and to protect the history of Goa Velha.

The party's manifesto had also assured to declare threeunique festivals as state festivals –Tovxanche Fest (Cucumber Feast), SantachemPursanv (Process of Saints) and Intruz.

However, no decision has been taken and no process has beeninitiated to declare these festivals of the Catholic community as Statefestival.

Fr Raul Colaco of Goa Velha church has said that theArchbishop is not in the favour of declaring these festivals as statefestivals.

Fr Lourdinho Pereira of St Anna church has said that the BJPand the MLA have not even initiated the process of fulfilling any of theirpromises.
