Nine days of novenas were held from August 30 to September 7 in honour of our Blessed Virgin Mary at the St Thomas Parish, Aldona. Novenas based on various themes and related to the theme of the Pastoral letter ‘Stay with us’ were chosen by our Parish vicar and Animator Fr Tomas Lobo. Parish vicar Fr Tomas lobo, Fr Luciano Fernandes, Fr Michael Fernandes and Deacon Melito D’Costa made the holy mass services very inspiring. After the mass the children were treated with sweets. On the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sept 8, the children’s choir ’Sweet voices of St. Thomas’ trained by Catechists Betty and Savita sang on the occassion. To celebrate the occasion Mother’s Day cake was cut to the singing of the Happy Birthday song. Various activities were held for the catechism children which were coordinated by the Ronald Victoria. Quiz on Mother Mary and Marian feasts and devotions, wall hanging with Bible quote related to Mary, decoration of statue / image / icon of Mother Mary, collage on churches/ chapels/ shrines in Goa, enactment of any mystery of the rosary, singing a hymn to Mary, instrumental on Marian hymn, wild flower arrangement/ vegetable and fruit carving and card making for Mother Mary were the activities held for the children. Eucharistic celebrations were aired on St Thomas Church Aldona YouTube channel by Joannes Lobo.
