It is encouraging to see many of our present day tiatristsare keeping up with the changing times and making good use of the Informationtechnology and the Facebook revolution. Several tiatrists have opened accountson the social networking site ‘Facebook’ and are in touch with their fans andfriends.

There are fears and doubts that certain IDs of tiatristscreated on Facebook are fake and actually are operated by an impersonator. ManyIDs of this nature have been brought to the notice of the networkadministration and they have been deleted in the past.

There are many fan groups of popular stage artistes that areactive on the social networking site which has a large number of followers.Among these groups are fan clubs of Lorna, M Boyer, Alfred Rose and so on.

The group members keep the fan groups updated regularly withphotos, videos, and other relevant information. It is a good opportunity forthousands of friends spread across the world to keep themselves informed andupdated about their favourite Konkani stage artiste. From the United States ofAmerica to Goa there is a massive number of fans that follow the status oftheir favourite Konkani stage artistes and participate in the discussion too.

The internet has provided a mass base to the modern daytiatrist to exhibit their works for the world to see at no charge. But thereare also many among the present tiatrist who are reluctant to make maximum useof the media for obvious reasons. Among the many Goans, JoeGoaUK a popular nameamongst the followers of tiatr in Goa and abroad has been aiding the tiatristfraternity by providing them extensive service, and free of cost coverage onthe net groups by uploading tiatr pictures and short clips, thereby givingtheir works a big boost.

Some members of the tiatrist fraternity may have certainreservations about their work being uploaded freely on internet groups but theycannot forget the fact that it was the information technology and internetrevolution that brought them extensive publicity through this medium among theGoan Diaspora spread across the globe. It is thanks to the internet revolutionand the vision of some Goans settled overseas that helped to give tiatr and itsrelated activities a great boost, and became a boon for its publicity acrossthe Konkani speaking world.
