In the past few years, due to the mobile and internet revolution, millions of people across the country have gained easy access to mobiles, computers, and the internet. These tools are also being used on a large scale for playing games. From young children to the elderly, millions of people play different types of games. The entire online gaming market in India is worth about Rs 25,000 crore. By passing the Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Bill 2025, the central government has taken an extremely important and bold step of completely banning online gambling and betting that were being conducted in various ways and under different names. While watching cricket matches on TV, we often see famous players advertising, “Bet just fifty rupees and win crores.” In reality, however, countless families have been ruined by playing online rummy and card games. Through apps like Dream11 and My11Circle, the advertisers and promoters have become millionaires, while the players have gone bankrupt. Gambling addiction is extremely harmful to individuals and their families.  Even though the government will lose revenue worth thousands of crores, it has still taken this courageous decision.
