CM Pramod Sawant, while speaking to the media some three days ago, had said that he had directed the PWD to ensure that all pothole-ridden roads were repaired within the next two days on account of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Goa. Unfortunately, Sawant’s 48-hour deadline to repair all pothole-ridden roads before the start of the Chaturthi festival seems to have missed its mark, with Goans across the state still grappling with miserable road conditions. The intense rainfall over the last few days has also left contractors and PWD engineers struggling to keep pace with the CM’s assurance. Well, how can CM Sawant expect the engineers and labourers of the PWD to repair all pothole-ridden roads in such a hurry at the last minute, and that too in just two days, during the ongoing rains in Goa? Are they robots or magicians? I think that the CM should henceforth plan such exercises one month in advance in a much better way rather than blindly expecting miracles to happen and merely making some useless announcements to bluff Goans during such annual major week-long religious festivals just to score a few brownie points for himself in Goa.
