Jesloy Moniz ,Velroy Fernandes, Malapa Bizzargi and Sidney Gaunkar each secured a goal in an showdown against Panjim Footballers as Pax of Nagoa Sports Club effortlessly clinched a 4-0 victory to solidify their commendable position in the the GFA Professional League, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.
With the Pax of Nagoa SC squad eager to capitalise on their momentum, anticipation for an enthralling match loomed large.
In the early moments, Pax of Nagoa capitalised on a through pass as Jesloy Moniz connected flawlessly with an inch-perfect from a corner providing them with a robust start. Jesloy Moniz then rose to the occasion but his attempt missed the mark narrowly.
With a commendable 1-0 lead, Pax of Nagoa entered halftime with their forwards giving a torrid time for the Panjim Footballers rearguard. Pax of Nagoa roared back with Velroy Fernandes who slotted past the rival goalkeeper in the 74th minute. Sidney Gaunkar added his name in the 81st minute to make it 3-0 while Malapa B rounded off the tally in the 87th minute.
Panjim Footballers' efforts to mount a comeback was thwarted by the opposition defense which held firm till the final whistle.
Calangute Association continued their climb up the table with a resounding 3-0 victory over Young Boys of Tonca, at the Sesa academy ground in Sirsaim.
The deadlock was broken in the 41st minute when Pratesh Shirodkar sent in a delightful cross from the right. Jovito Fernandes rose to the occasion with a well-placed flick header, leaving the YBT keeper stranded and putting Calangute ahead.
Just minutes later, disaster struck for Young Boys. A defensive miscommunication between Dibyendu Chatterjee and goalkeeper Ram Saroop allowed man of the match Pratesh Shirodkar to double Calangute's lead.
Despite sporadic attempts from Ashem Metei and Yadav Rahul, Young Boys of Tonca failed to truly threaten the Calangute defense. The score remained 2-0 at halftime.
The second half saw Calangute continue their control of the game. In stoppage time, Vishesh Nasnodkar put the game to bed with a driving run into YBT territory. He evaded defenders before setting up Aman Govekar for a simple finish, sealing a comfortable win.
