There are many dangerous and derelict buildings on the verge of collapse dotting the Goan landscape and the numbers keep on increasing every year.
In a majority of the cases, despite government notice, the tenants/owners refuse to vacate the premises marked for demolition. They endanger their own lives as well as the lives of others by their intransigence as most of such structures abut busy thoroughfares.
The State should formulate legislation to the effect that once a building is notified for razing the occupiers should leave the premises immediately or face penal action. This would help in saving many lives.
