For the first time, an all-Goan band will perform all Goan music with a fusion of styles and three of Goa’s languages to present the musical essence of Goa across the world

Acclaimed musicians such as Hemaa Sardesai, Seby Fernandes and Colin D’Cruz have come together to form a band ‘MOG’ (Music of Goa) to perform a fusion of styles and languages, encapsulating the essence of Goa on a musical journey across the world.
“Goans are a truly global community, dispersed across the world, yet deeply connected to their homeland. Their rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions have always been cherished, and despite being geographically distant, they strive to maintain a strong bond with their roots. Among the various facets that define Goan culture, music holds a special place as the lifeblood of Goa,” says noted musician Colin D’Cruz, the founder of the Jazz Goa.
“In this spirit, the captivating band ‘MOG’ (Music of Goa) has emerged, carrying a slice of Goa to the far corners of the globe. For the first time, an all-Goan band will be playing all Goan music with a fusion of styles and three of Goa’s languages to present the musical essence of Goa across the world!”
Anchored by two Goan music legends, Hemaa Sardesai and Seby Fernandes, the band is accompanied by an ensemble of acclaimed musicians – Tony Dias (keyboards), Prathamesh Chari (drums) and Daniel Miranda (guitar) – curated by the renowned bassist and music producer Colin D’Cruz.
The band will be managed by CrossCraft and will be launched in Goa on August 20 to commemorate World Goa Day.
“Following our promos, many Goan organisations in different parts of the world have already begun contacting us with enquiries and we are already planning events worldwide. We hope to start touring by the end of this year,” said D’Cruz.
“The enchanting melodies of ‘MOG’ will encompass a diverse repertoire, featuring the evergreen Konkani and Portuguese songs that resonate with the essence of Goa. Furthermore, the show will also showcase English songs inspired by the enchanting charm of this coastal paradise. With a fusion of styles and languages, the performance encapsulates the true essence of Goa on a musical journey.”
Embracing nostalgia as its driving force, D’Cruz said ‘MOG’ aims to ignite a wave of heartfelt emotions and cherished memories among the Goan diaspora.
“As the mesmerising tunes fill the air, distant lands will reverberate with the echoes of Goan traditions, evoking a deep sense of pride and longing for home.”
“By bridging the geographical divide and celebrating the universal language of music, ‘MOG’ not only provides a platform for Goans worldwide to reconnect with their cultural heritage but also serves as an invitation for music lovers from all walks of life to experience the unique charm and spirit of Goa. This musical extravaganza promises to be a resounding success.”
“We invite Goans across the world to join us on this captivating musical odyssey, as ‘MOG’ transcends boundaries and spreads the vibrant tapestry of Goan culture throughout the world. We want to enthral them by the harmonious melodies, rhythmic beats, and the indomitable spirit of Goa, as this unique show takes centre stage and showcases the soul of a truly global Goan community,” he added.
