The pandemic did not deter the catechetical cell of St Thomas Parish, Aldona to carry on its role of imparting faith formation through a variety of on-line activities. Activities both virtual and offline were held through the Catechetical Year 2020-2021.
The theme for the Eucharistic celebration and the Cultural programme was ‘Tumi Mhoje govai’. In his homily the celebrant Fr Tomas Lobo highlighted the importance of translating our faith in concrete actions of love, compassion and selfless service especially towards the sick, the suffering and the ostracized. The Eucharistic celebration began with a prayer recited by the children and all present. The Animator welcomed the Chief guest Fr Francis Fernandes Parish Vicar of Bom Jesus Church, Nachinola and the ACAZ of the Deanery of Aldona and all present. Action song titled ‘You are my witnesses’,’Jezuk kallzant ghetanv, tachim govai zatanv’ sung by the recipients of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, ’Sant Tome Apostla’ sung by the ‘sweet voices of St Thomas Parish’ comprising of catechism children were all composed by the Animator Fr Tomas Lobo. ’Jezuche govai sonvsarant’ a skit enacted by the children of the confirmation class was excellent.
The Chief guest Fr Francis Fernandes in his address appreciated the work done by the catechetical apostolate, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Catechists who completed 25 years of dedicated service were felicitated at the hands of the Chief Guest. Coordinator Ronald Victoria proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was ably compered by Catechist Sandhya Fernandes.
