The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa organised the first FDP (Faculty Development Programme) for the academic year 2021-2022 on January 15, 2022. The session sought to update the faculty about the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for college teachers in Goa University-affiliated government-aided colleges under the control of higher education based on the Goa University statutes. The session dealt with the respective criteria and stages of promotion as laid down by Goa University Statue SC-16, stated a press release.
Coordinator of IQAC Vilma Fernandes introduced the Resource Person Vipul Ghare, Assistant Director, Directorate of Higher Education, Goa. An alumnus of St Xavier’s, Ghare holds the key portfolios of Academics and Development. Ghare took the teachers through the various stages of promotion even as he elucidated the criteria requisite for the said promotions ranging from Assistant Professor at Academic level 10 to Professor at Academic level 14.
The administrator of the college, Rev Fr Antonio Salema, appreciated Ghare’s pertinent inputs and the clarity with which he conducted the session. Dr Ubaldina Noronha of the Psychology Department proposed the vote of thanks. The session came to a close at 1.15 pm. 115 teachers participated in the session, the release added.
