Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa in association with The Directorate of Official Languages, Government of Goa and SCERT organized a two-day workshop on December 11-12 to provide guidance to government primary and secondary teachers. The workshops, which were held in two places in South Goa and North Goa, covered how to teach children well through stories, poems, drama, painting and animation. The workshop in North Goa was held in association with St. Xavier's College, Mapusa. A total of 210 teachers attended both the workshops. During the workshop, various dignitaries trained the teachers on how to enrich learning with the help of various creative arts. Nayana Adarkar, Chetan Acharya and Palash Agni spoke on children’s literature, Dr Tanvi Kamat Bambolkar and Prajakta Kavlekar gave valuable guidance to the teachers through drama, Ratnamala Divkar through poetry and music and Siddhesh Gaunekar through animation and art. The workshop in South Goa was inaugurated by Fr Gabriel Coutinho, Administrator of Rosary College, Navelim as the chief guest and in North Goa it was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Blanche Mascarenhas, Principal of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa. The dignitaries appreciated the initiative of the Mandal and expressed the need for such workshops in the context of the National Education Policy. The Konkani Bhasha Mandal, which is keen to organize similar workshops for teachers, has organized a similar two-day workshop for teachers of government-aided primary school teachers in July. The Mandal aims to reach out to teachers across Goa through creative dialogue. These workshops will continue to be held on a regular basis.
