As part of the celebration of Nature Conservation Day, the NSS Unit of PES's Ravi S Naik College of Arts and Science Farmagudi, Ponda and Hilldari Group in collaboration with Ponda Municipality organised a session on "Overview of Waste Management in Ponda" on July 27. The resource person was Dhiraj Shennoy, Assistant SWM Officer, Hilldari Group. He explained about the various steps taken to improve the Solid Waste Management in Ponda right from household segregation of waste, the door-to-door collection and treatment of this waste at MRF centre located at Keri, Ponda. He also spoke about the new initiative of collecting sanitary waste and hazardous waste which would be implemented very soon in Ponda. He appealed to the students to create public awareness about the proper disposal of waste. Dr Satish Keluskar, Vice-Principal of the College addressed the gathering. Atul Pole, NSS programme Officer Incharge introduced the Resource Person. Dr Rasika Desai Gaokar and Shweta Sangaonkar were the Event Coordinators.
