MARGAO: Rodrigues Youth downed holders BDG 3-1 to march to the final of the II Santan & Silvio Mendes Memorial Soccer, organised by Santa Cruz Club Of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
In the very fifth minute, a cross from the right by Malcolm Rodrigues was well connected by Anand Souza who took a powerful shot to bulge the BDG net.
Jonas Fernandes scored the second goal after heading in a cross from Blayne Rodrigues from the left flank to make it 2-0.
Crossing over, BDG fought back with Sheriff Jacques and Polly Pereira moving upfront and building pressure on Rodrigues goal and a free kick taken by Winson Pereira from 30-yard was handled by Maven Garcias in the penalty area and a resultant penalty was easily converted by Valerio Fernandes of BDG to make it 2-1.
However, Rodrigues scored the third goal when Jonas Fernandes completed his brace to put an end to BDG's fight back and take Rodrigues Youth to their second successive finals where they will now meet arch rivals Bandoi Boys on Sunday.
