'Sacred Spaces – Moments in Time' show  opened at Quadro Art Gallery

The fine arts photography exhibition of paintings and altars in the Churches of Goa by Payal Kakkar  was inaugurated by Canon Alfred Vaz at the Quadro Art Gallery. The event was attended by Fr Ceotano Fernandes, Vicar Holy Family Church and Fr Alfi D'Cruz, Parish Priest, Holy Family Church along with Cartoonist Alexyz Fernandes, syringe painter Clarice Vaz, architect Rita Modi Joshi, drummer Rajat Kakkar of Mrigya fusion band, Adelino Fernandes of Lorenz Imaging and Geovanni Fernandes, owner of Quadro Art Gallery who offered the space free.

After the inauguration Canon Alfred Vaz stated that Payal has captured all three popular types of altars in Goa very well. Pointing to the photograph of The Holy Cross Church altar. Syringe artist from Goa Clarice Vaz mentioned, “Payal has photographed the churches while trying to understand the architecture and brought forward the elements beautifully." Goan cartoonist Alexyz Fernandes gifted a framed cartoon limerick to Payal.A classical dancer and a photographer, Payal with her masters in ‘environment protection’, specialises in sewage and garbage management and is already working on a new series on climate crisis in the country.

Payal said that she tried to convey what she felt being inside the church and how she connected to her inner spirituality when the time stood still, and felt an intense and powerful out-of-the-body experience.
