Be it political, social or cultural events, Bollywood and Vasco have always enjoyed a close association.It is no wonder, then, that a number of actors and models have begun to visit Vasco to campaign for candidates in the upcoming elections to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC).
Bollywood actor Junior Johnny Lever recently inaugurated election the office of social workers, Riyaz Kadri and his wife, Sameena, at Gandhingar-Vasco.
Incidentally, Kadri had also brought in actor and model Sana Khan to open his restaurant in Baina.
Sources in Kadri camp has also revealed that Bollywood star Nana Patekar will also be down to campaign for Kadri in Baina.
The presence of Bollywood stars has traditionally been widely appreciated by people in the port town.
Residents of Ward 10 in Baina had got the opportunity to click pictures alongside Junior Johnny Lever and Sana Khan.Speaking to reporters, Kadri said he had planned to contest elections in Ward 10, but since the ward was reserved for women, his wife, Sameena, would contest from the ward.
"Our only agenda is development of Baina and we are not dependent on any political party or municipal funds. We have the capacity to undertake development works such as parks, repairing roads and gutters, even laying pavers at our own cost. There has been no development in our ward for five years,” said Kadri.
