Condolence meet for ex-CM Ravi Naik today

Panaji: The Government of Goa has organised a condolence meeting in memory of late Ravi Naik on October 19, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Kala Academy auditorium. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend the event, along with former Chief Ministers, Ministers, MLAs and other dignitaries. Dr Sawant has appealed to all well-wishers of the late leader to attend the meeting. 

Ravi Sitaram Naik, born in Ponda on September 18, 1946, began his political journey with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party in 1980. He later became Goa’s Chief Minister twice — in 1991 and 1994. Naik served as an MLA from 1984 and was North Goa’s MP from 1998 to 1999. He won several Assembly elections from Madkai and Ponda constituencies, representing both the Congress and BJP. A veteran leader, Naik held several key portfolios including Home, Finance, PWD and Agriculture. Known for his administrative skills and grassroots connect, his contributions to Goa’s development and public life will be fondly remembered.
