PANAJI: As part of the dog population management project by Mission Rabies, a worldwide veterinary service programme ‘one month free dog sterilisation and community awareness campaign’ is being carried out at Chinchinim in Salcete.
The people in the vicinity can visit the community day on March 18 at 10 am to visit the dog population clinic on the ground opposite the primary health centre at Chinchinim for a guided tour of the facility. The programme to be carried out in collaboration with Chinchinim village panchayat will have a one month sterilisation camp to provide free birth control surgery for all community dogs and cats in the Chinchinim village area. The programme will run till April 15.
Apart from sterilisations during the month there would be community awareness programmes, such as mural painting for school children, quiz competitions, animal rescue and first aid workshop, adoption camps, church day, awareness booths, tour of the truck for school kids, education and awareness on rabies control and dog population management.
