
PANAJI: The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the release of a commemorative postage stamp on Antarctica Day at its Prithvi Auditorium in Sada, Goa, on 01 December 2025. Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju presided as Chief Guest for the event, which highlighted NCPOR’s 25 years of contributions to India’s polar and ocean research. The function was attended by Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra & Goa Circle; Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR; Shailendra Saini, Group Director, NCPOR; and Ramesh Patil, Director Postal Services, Goa Region. Meloth opened the programme with a welcome address, reflecting on the institution’s achievements. The Governor, along with the Chief Postmaster General, released the commemorative stamp, picture postcards on Antarctica and a First Day Cover. He praised NCPOR’s scientific advancements and encouraged continued collaboration with India Post. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. A philatelic counter was also set up for the sale of newly released material.
