Chicalim Parish priest and social activist Fr Bolmax Pereira passed away early this morning two days after he was admitted to the Goa Medical College following a cardiac arrest.
He reportedly breathed his last at around 4.30 am.
Goa Congress leaders expressed condolences over his death. The Comunidade of Parra also expressed profound grief over his passing, describing Fr Bolmax as a true warrior and a dedicated servant of the community.
“Fr. Bolmax lived a life of courage, faith, and service. His unwavering commitment to his calling and to the people of Goa will be remembered with deep respect. He stood firm in times of challenge and inspired many through his strength, humility, and devotion,” the Attorney for the Comunidade of Parra stated.
The Comunidade extended condolences to his family, religious community, and all those touched by his life and work. “May God grant him eternal rest and comfort all who mourn his loss,” the statement added.
Fr Bolmax had collapsed at Vasco Railway Station on the morning of May 22 while leaving for a picnic to Collem. He was initially revived at Daffodils Hospital near Tilak Maidan before being shifted to Goa Medical College for advanced treatment.
Though doctors had reportedly observed signs of improvement on Saturday evening, his condition worsened after he suffered a major cardiac arrest around 10.20 pm and was placed on life support. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had visited him and assured the State was committed to provide him the best treatment.
Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed during treatment.
