PANAJI: Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik said energy conservation has become a responsibility in the face of climate change and resource depletion. He was speaking at the State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025, organised by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited – Western Region-1 at Colvale, Bardez. Naik was welcomed by Nodal Officer Nasirhusen I. Sheikh and senior officials from Power Grid and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. This year, 6,457 students from 111 schools participated, with 50 qualifiers from each category competing at the State Level. Three winners and ten consolation awardees were selected in each group. The State Level prizes were awarded as follows: in Category A (Std 5–7), Arnavv Praveen Naik won the first prize of Rs 50,000, followed by Sara Kishor Bandekar with Rs 30,000 and Mitali Mahesh Madgaokar with Rs 20,000; in Category B (Std 8–10), the first prize of Rs 50,000 went to Sara Pereira, the second to Swapnil Shanta Velip for Rs 30,000, and the third to Falak Ansari for Rs 20,000. Additionally, ten consolation prizes of Rs 7,500 were presented in each category. The top three winners from each group will represent Goa at the National Level competition in Gurgaon on December 11.
