Deusa Sector with a splendid performance bagged the first place at the Inter Sector Dance Festival organised by Chicalim Youth Farmers Club in association with St Francis de Assisi Somudai, Igreja and powered by the Department of Art & Culture, Govt of Goa, at the Village Panchayat Hall Chicalim on May 11 as part of the 400 years of Chicalim parish celebrations. Regina Mundi Sector came second while Assoi Sector won the third place. The Dance Festival saw more than 200 participants from the villages of Chicalim and Dabolim. The Mahila Mandal Group from Alto Dabolim performed a Fugdi Dance which was well appreciated by the audience. Children and others who attented the special 3-day Dance Workshop conducted by Encore Dance Academy also gave a performance before the World famous Kepemchim Kirnnam with Elvis Goes set the stage on fire with the Dekhni, Mando, Kharvi, Marcha Fontainhas Dances and original Konkani Songs accompanied by Bachata dancers. South Goa MP, Capt. Viriato Fernandes, who was amongst the gathering congratulated the participants and organisers for keeping alive the traditions and culture of Goa. Cecille Rodrigues who was the Chief Guest encouraged the participants in her address. Later she distributed the prizes and mementos along with Fr Bolmax Pereira, Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Chicalim, Fr Peter Fernandes Asst. Parish Priest. Valerie Afonso compered the function along with Francisco Nunes.
