Kala Chetana, Volvoi, penned its name in history, when its Konkani drama 'Ganv Zala Zantto' was staged for the most times (seven), creating a world record for most shows in a single day.
The world record was broken on May 18 when the shows of the Konkani drama were staged consecutively for seven times, starting from 7.30 am and ending at 12.30 am at Rajiv Kala Mandir, Ponda.
The previous world record was held by a Marathi play 'Albatya Galbatya' which was staged six times in a day.
The drama was penned by Suchita Narvekar, directed by Amog Budkule and produced by Rajdeep Naik, and it was the first Konkani drama to have performed in the UK.
Officials from World Records Book of India Sanjay Narvekar and Sushma Narvekar adjudged the performance and officially confirmed that 'Ganv Zala Zantto' has broken the world record of most shows in a single day.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Monday, Sushma Narvekar informed that the performance of 'Ganv Zala Zantto' met all the criteria needed for it to be a world record.
"Throughout the seven shows, the cast remained the same and performed with the same intensity," Narvekar informed while acknowledging that, in fact, the performance improved at every performance with the energy actually exceeding in the last shows.
Narvekar also informed that child artiste 5-year old Bhumi Narvekar created her own world record by performing in all seven shows.
The officials later presented citations, medals and certificates to all the participants of the Konkani drama.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Rajdeep Naik thanked all the Goans who turned up for all the seven shows, including the morning one at 7.30 am and the last one at 10.30 pm.
"The response from the audience was beyond our expectations with the first and the last shows seeing over 400 participation. And the rest of the shows were houseful," Naik stated while also thanking all the sponsors, including from the UK, for extending financial support.
Naik also thanked all the artistes as well as those who worked behind the scenes in achieving the world record.
The event was supported by Department of Art and Culture its official partner was Encore Academy of Performing Arts.
