Dr Roque G Wiseman Pinto, Professor of Pathology and Former Dean at Goa University, was invited as Chairman and Faculty for three scientific sessions at the 22nd International Congress of Cytology, held in Florence-Italy, from Mau 11 to 15 at Fortezza da Basso. Organised by the International Academy of Cytology (IAC) and SIAPEC, the conference gathered 750 delegates from 66 countries, including 25 from India. Dr Pinto chaired sessions on Salivary Gland Cytopathology (Milan System), Infectious Diseases, and Fungal Infections. He also represented India at key IAC and EFCS meetings and participated in the IAC Social Media Symposium, speaking on the global impact of cytopathology, advantages over histopathology and India's digital engagement in the field. The event, accredited by IAC, EFCS and the Italian Society, was presided over by Dr Fernando Schmitt (Luxembourg), with Dr Guiddo Fadda (Italy) leading the local committee. Other Indian faculty included Dr Radhika S, B Rekhi, and Nalini Gupta. The next congress will be held in South Korea in 2028.
