MARGAO: Orlim Veterans blanked Viva Veterans North 3-0 to enter the finals of 2nd Kala Mogi All Goa veterans football tournament, organised by Kala Mogi Veterans, Betalbatim, at Betalbatim panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Thursday.
In first session of play, Robert Fernandes ran down in the fifth minute to beat the defence and goalkeeper and scored the first goal for Orlim while Viva North Claudio missed to score before half time.
Orlim Veterans led 1-0 at half time. After resumption of second half, Viva North's Alex Alvares' powerful shot hit the cross bar and went out of play. Sandip of Orlim Veterans scored a brace in 35th and 39th minutes of play to seal the fate of Viva Veterans North and enter the finals which is to be played on April 28.
In another match Calangute veterans defeated Fatorda veterans 5-4 via tiebreaker to enter the semifinal after being reminded Nil draw in regular time.
