SALIGAO: Tejal Naik, 74, who had suffered 61 per cent burn injuries in a fire at her flat in Jaswat Building near Krishna Temple on February 28, 2026, died at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim.
The fire had broken out on the morning of February 28 after an air cooler exploded in the kitchen due to a short circuit. Naik sustained severe burns in the incident and was admitted to GMC the same day for treatment.
Police Inspector Dinesh Gadekar of Saligao Police Station said the police received a message at around 8 pm on Tuesday, March 3, informing them that Naik had died earlier in the evening.
A post-mortem examination was conducted and the body was later handed over to the relatives, police said. Further inquiries are underway.
