BJP Goa new President asks party workers to sort internal issues internally, not on social media

PANAJI

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa Unit’s new President Damodar 'Damu' Naik, has asked party workers to maintain discipline and focus on achieving victory in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

At the grand event in Panaji today, Naik emphasized that all BJP members should avoid airing internal matters on social media.

“We are a family in BJP and every karyakarta must work towards winning 27 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, as well as the ZP and Municipality elections… If there are differences it should be discussed and not aired on social media,” Naik said.

Naik, who has been a dedicated member of the BJP for over three decades, assumed the role following a nomination process in which he was the sole candidate to submit his papers at the party headquarters in Panaji on Friday.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed similar sentiments calling for a “double-engine” government in 2027. He stressed the importance of strengthening the BJP's presence in constituencies like Velim and Marcaim and reaffirmed the party's commitment to reclaiming power in the state. He also mentioned plans for inaugurating the new BJP office before the 2027 elections.

Sadanand Shet Tanavade, the BJP’s past President and current Rajya Sabha MP, also highlighted the party's ambitious goal for the 2027 elections. He stated that the BJP has already completed 50 per cent of its preparations for the upcoming polls, with the slogan "27 in 2027" driving the strategy.

Speaking at the event, BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal commended Goa’s development under the BJP’s "double-engine" government, highlighting the state's progress in infrastructure. "Goa, though small, has done a remarkable job in development. Wherever you look, something new is being built. Our goal is to bring happiness to every citizen through our welfare schemes," Bansal stated.

Bansal went on to congratulate Damu Naik as the new BJP Goa State President and expressed confidence in Naik's leadership to drive the party towards achieving its "27 in 2027" election goal. "With Naik’s extensive experience, we will continue to work towards making Goa a developed state," he concluded.

The election of Naik comes after an extended term for Tanavade, whose tenure as state president ended last year. Due to elections in other states, the organizational elections in Goa were postponed, leading to Tanavade's temporary extension, during which he also took on the role of Rajya Sabha MP.
