Two young naval officers from Kerala were killed in a road accident in the early hours of October 21 when their motorcycle crashed along the Bambolim stretch of the National Highway-66.

Details shared by Agassaim police reveal that the incident occurred near Holy Cross, opposite Sainik Aramgarh, around 4.35 am. The police team that rushed to the site shifted the victims to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, in separate ambulances, but doctors declared them 'brought dead on arrival.'

Police later identified the deceased as Harigovind P (21) and Vishnu Jayaprakash (21), both serving Navy officers attached to INS Hansa, Vasco. It is learnt that the victims were recruited under the Central government’s Agniveer scheme, and had completed three years of service of a four-year term.

Meanwhile, the police inquiry revealed that Jayaprakash was riding the motorcycle owned by him, with Harigovind as a pillion. “The duo was travelling from Panaji towards Margao when, upon reaching the Siridao flyover opposite Sainik Aramgarh, the rider lost control of the bike, hit the central divider and crashed into a signboard,” the report stated.

Police said no eyewitnesses were found despite inquiries with locals but CCTV footage from the Smart City cameras and nearby shops helped reconstruct the sequence of events. A case of unnatural death has been registered at Agassaim police station, and families of both the deceased informed about the incident.
