The body of the man, who along with his son, had allegedly jumped into the river from the Calvim Bridge at Aldona was traced on Saturday even as the search for the body of the minor son was on.
After conducting an extensive search operation, Mapusa Police along with officials of the Captains of Ports found the body of the man Vijay Vishnu Gavkar at around 10.30 am.
The man along with his son allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the bridge.
The body has been sent to GMC Bambolim for autopsy and further investigation.
Meanwhile, the port officials continued their search in bid to trace the body of the minor boy.
It may be recalled, a man along with his minor son allegedly jumped into the river from the Calvim Bridge at Aldona on Friday evening.
The incident came to light after Vijay Gavkar’s wife came home from work and found her husband and son missing.
After conducting a search they found the man’s bike in the middle of the bridge along with their slippers.
The matter was then reported to the police.
