Church in India mourns Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has expressed deep grief and profound sorrow over the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Thursday afternoon.

“The heartbreaking incident, which involved a London-bound aircraft carrying 242 passengers and crew, has left the nation in shock and mourning,” stated CBCI PRO Fr Robinson Rodrigues.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those who lost their lives in this devastating accident. Our prayers are with them in this hour of immense grief and loss.”

“We also pray fervently for the speedy and complete recovery of all those who have been injured in the crash.”

The CBCI stated that it stood in solidarity with the victims and their families and with all the rescue personnel working tirelessly at the crash site.

“We humbly urge all our Catholic faithful and all people of goodwill across the country to join us in prayer for the victims of this tragedy—for the eternal rest of those who have died, for comfort to the bereaved, and for strength and healing for the injured.”

“Let us turn to God, our source of hope and consolation, and intercede for our brothers and sisters affected by this terrible disaster,” the CBCI added.
