Goan artist and writer Jyoti Kunkolkar’s book ‘Gaathbhet’ has been published recently at the Dempo House auditorium. The book has compilations of interviews of eminent personalities that the writer had taken in the past few years. Those present for the occasion including the writer, were former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, industrialist Srinivas Dempo, Dr Subodh Kerkar, Tomazinho Cardozo, Nitin Kuncolienkar, Dr Anupama Kudchadkar and Ambey Parvatkar.
“Such a book of interviews with eminent personalities has a special place in literature,” stated former CM Laxmikant Parsekar.
“As speaking needs a talent, so is interviewing or writing which is a skill, and Kunkolkar has this rare skill, that’s the reason she could interview 500 plus persons,” said Parsekar.
Srinivas Dempo pointed out that the interviewer has to study the life of the interviewee. “It is not enough to know the biography of the person, but peeping in his mind to understand who he or she is, is an art. Writer Kunkolkar has interviewed over 500 persons in the past 30 years. She has already published four books on such interviews – Kartrutvi Kanya, Abhinay Kanya, Rangtaraka, Shikhar Kanya. These books have personalities who have done something extraordinary in their respective fields. But the present book ‘Gaathbhet’ is different, as it includes Goan personalities who Kunkolkar interviews on the Panaji Doordarshan,” shares Dempo.
“This book has featured Goans including late Manohar Parrikar, Vijai Sardesai and Govind Gaude. These interviews have enriched me,” shared Jyoti Kunkolkar after the publication. The programme was compered entirely by her.
