The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) successfully hosted a conclave on ‘Inclusive & sustainable growth for Goa @ 2037’ on Wednesday in Panaji attended by policymakers, industry leaders, global experts, and civil society stakeholders. Inaugurated by Minister for Industries & Transport Mauvin Godinho in presence of the Chief Secretary Dr V Candavelou, the day-long conclave concluded with the release of the Vision Report Goa@2037 at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Vision Report Goa@2037 has been placed before the Goa government with a forward looking vision – Heritage-to-Horizon, Green & Inclusive. The event marked a key milestone in Goa’s journey toward becoming a high-value, innovation-led, and environmentally sustainable State by 2037.
The inaugural session, titled ‘Goa 2037: The roadmap to inclusive and sustainable growth,’ was presided over by Shrinivas Dempo, president, GCCI. In his address, Dempo emphasised that Goa now stands at an inflection point—transitioning from its traditional reliance on tourism and minerals to a future-ready economic model powered by innovation, sustainability, and inclusion. “We must build a Goa that is globally competitive, ecologically responsible, socially harmonious, and economically vibrant for all Goans. This conclave is not the culmination, but the beginning of a transformative journey,” said Dempo.
Dempo reiterated GCCI’s commitment to collaborative governance, urging public-private partnerships to move from consultation to joint execution. “Growth and sustainability are not opposite choices. In Goa, they must become each other’s greatest strength,” he emphasised.
Complimenting GCCI on this vision report Sawant assured that it will be analysed in detail. The government of Goa is also coming up with a vision document by December 25 and GCCI’s inputs will certainly be considered, Sawant added. He welcomed the proposal for a Goa Vision 2037 Steering Council, to be chaired by the Chief Minister, involving stakeholders from all sectors. Mauvin Godinho agreed to incorporate the recommendations of the vision report as a blueprint for model good governance.
