PANAJI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Goa government’s flagship ‘Mhaji Ghar Yojana’ housing scheme, which is expected to benefit nearly half the state’s population.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made the announcement today while speaking to reporters in Panaji after attending the Seva Pakhwada programme organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
Sawant said the launch will take place once all legal formalities are complete. “Circulars have already been issued setting procedures for regularisation of structures on government land, comunidade land and under the 20-Point Programme. Forms will be made available at panchayat and municipality levels shortly after receiving final legal clearance,” he added.
The state government had recently amended laws to allow old houses built on comunidade and government-owned land to be regularised. “Even the flats that were provided during rehabilitation programmes some 30 years ago will now receive ownership under this scheme,” Sawant said.
