Bangladeshi national held in Delhi in joint Op

The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court has remanded a Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammad Nazir, to 14 days' judicial custody in connection with the sensational dacoity case reported in Mapusa earlier this year.
Nazir was produced before the court after being brought to Goa on a transfer warrant from Delhi, where he had been arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Goa Police and the Delhi Police Special Cell.
Police sources said Nazir is believed to be one of the key members of the gang allegedly involved in the dacoity. His arrest takes the total number of accused apprehended in the case to six.
According to police, the accused had allegedly fled Goa soon after committing the crime and were operating from different locations across the country. Following sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering, Goa Police tracked Nazir's movements and coordinated with Delhi Police to secure his arrest.
A senior police officer said that Nazir's custodial interrogation had revealed important leads regarding the planning and execution of the crime.
Police had earlier arrested five other accused allegedly linked to the dacoity. Police are probing whether the gang was involved in similar offences in Goa and other States.
The dacoity case had created concern among residents and traders in Mapusa, prompting police to launch an extensive investigation involving multiple teams and interstate coordination.
Officials said efforts are underway to recover any remaining stolen property and ascertain the full extent of the gang's criminal network.
The accused has been lodged in judicial custody while police continue their investigation into the case.
