MARGAO
The Fatorda police arrested one more person in the Mungul gang war, taking the number of persons arrested in the case to nine.

The police, however, have failed to lay their hands on the gang leaders who had allegedly conspired to launch the murderous attack on the Baleno car on the Margao-Colva road in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Raids conducted by the police at Quepem, Santa Cruz, and Ponda, besides Margao, at the residences of the gang leaders have not borne fruit to date.

A senior police officer, however, informed that the Goa police are working in a coordinated way to zero in on the gang leaders, who have eluded the police dragnet to date.

“Interrogation of the accused arrested in the case has brought to the fore certain names, who have a criminal background. They were not found at their respective places of residence during the late-night raids conducted by the police,” sources informed.

Incidentally, the police have so far not come out with the exact motive behind the armed attack at Mungul on the Baleno car, which left two people injured.
